EngageBay Affiliate Program Review

What is EngageBay?

If you have ever heard of a CRM before, you can probably guess what EngageBay does. In a nutshell, it is an all-in-one solution for anyone managing an online business, whether they need help with identifying new buyer personas or leads or converting their website visitors.

Some of the services and products offered by EngageBay range from a top-notch CRM software that can be used for anything from contact and deal management to appointment scheduling and sales automation to marketing automation that includes an email template builder, sequences, as well as forms and landing pages.

Two other strong features of EngageBay are the Helpdesk Software and the Live Chat Software, which can make the difference for any ecommerce site owner. In this sense, the Helpdesk software can help with anything from ticket management to ticket automation while the Live Chat Software can of course be used for notifications, instant support, and more.

To make things better, the software can integrate with a myriad of apps, whether they be JotForm, Stripe, QuickBooks, or Mandrill or Postmark, Sendgrid, Zapier, or Mailgun.

What services can you recommend to your audience?

We’ve already discussed some of the features you might be interested in showcasing your content as a part of your strategy to convince your followers to give EngageBay a shot. But let’s look at what plans are available and what they offer.

First of all, there’s a free version that anyone can try, and we’d argue that it’s a benefit to you since you’re not going to have a very hard time convincing people to check it out — especially since they do not have to pay a single cent of their hard-earned cash at the beginning.

The free plan includes up to 250 contacts and some features such as the live chat, the Helpdesk, lead grabbers, landing pages, the CRM, sequences, autoresponders, and other email marketing features. With this version, you’re basically getting a little out of all of the software options, but not enough to make it work properly.

The pricing model per se can be a little challenging to explain. There’s the option of your referrals getting the all-in-one package, which starts at $12.74 USD, in which case they’d get some of the perks of all of the software products we have mentioned. But if they only need the ones included in the Marketing or Service Bay or CRM & Sales Bay plans, then they’d have to pay $11.04 USD per month. These prices are available for the biennial payment, because if you choose the monthly subscription, the All-in-One is billed at $14.99 per user per month.

The Basic comes with the ability to manage up to 750 contacts, a plethora of email templates, a landing page builder, SMS marketing, 3rd party integrations and more.

The next plan is called Growth and it is billed at $49.99 when the monthly payment model is chosen. This one includes up to 5,000 contacts, marketing automation, site messages, a custom domain, landing page A/B testing, push notification, call records, products, and proposals.

The most generous (and at the same time, the most expensive) plan that now exists when it comes to EngageBay is called the Pro – this one costs $99.99 per month and offers the ability to manage an unlimited number of contacts. Some attractive features range from role management and custom reporting to a dedicated account manager, phone support, web and proposal analytics, and more.

While customized options do not seem to exist, anyone who runs an enterprise and feels like EngageBay might assist them somehow can schedule a call and find out more about the pricing and exact features.

Joining the EngageBay affiliate program

If you have gotten into the habit of working with separate affiliate networks like Awin, ShareASale, ClickBank, or anything else in this vein, we’ve got news for you — the EngageBay affiliate program is self-managed, which means that you will need to rely on the brand’s own website.

In fact, before you’re able to become an affiliate, you will have to create at least a free account to the EngageBay platform itself. In a way, this can be an advantage since you’ll have access to the most basic plan version and you’ll have a pretty good idea of what services you will be able to recommend to your followers.

On the other hand, the good news is that you will not have to go through the hassle of submitting an application and wait for a reply for up to a week or more, which can be the case with other companies that have affiliate programs. As such, you’ll have access to your affiliate dashboard immediately after you create a free EngageBay account.

How much can you earn as an EngageBay affiliate?

We’re happy to report that the EngageBay affiliate program is one of the highest earning ones we’ve come across simply because not a lot of other brands are willing to offer the same commission rates to their affiliates.

With EngageBay, you get what you see, in the sense that you’ll earn 30% out of whatever your referrals pay for their subscriptions for the whole duration of their subscriptions. That includes  recurring earnings with the same value for when your referrals renew their plans, too.

While the website isn’t very straightforward when it comes to this, we did find out that there is the possibility of you being able to ask for a bonus if your performance is stellar. So, if you’re referring a plethora of people to EngageBay every month and you know for a fact that you could negotiate a better rate, don’t hesitate to get in touch with a company representative.

As an affiliate, you also get access to a support team that’s there to help you in case you run into any type of issue. Another aspect that makes this option stand out from the crowd is the fact that you get a 120-day cookie.

This cookie length is not only much longer compared to the industry standard (30 days) but also quite helpful since folks are likely to first try out the free version of the product before switching to any of the paid plans — so if the cookie were just 15 or 30 days, by the time they might make their minds up, you could risk losing your commission.

When it comes to the thresholds or payment methods currently employed by the EngageBay affiliate program, we hate to disappoint you, but we couldn’t find any specific information on this. All of the payments are processed before the 5th of every month.

The commissions are approved before the 3rd of every month, so that’s one less thing to worry about. What we do have to note here is that since EngageBay has a 30-day money back guarantee, that is the amount of time you will have to wait before your commissions are reviewed. It’s just a security measure that anyone in the affiliate marketing game uses to make sure they don’t pay commissions even when people ask for their money back or don’t spend any cash on their products.

Pros and cons of being an EngageBay affiliate

Every affiliate program comes with benefits and drawbacks and it is a good idea to carefully consider each and every one before making your decision.

The reason we’re saying this is that you could be spreading yourself thin by being an affiliate for too many companies that people may have never heard of, for example, which is not going to result in a lot of success for you.

When it comes to the reasons to consider being an EngageBay affiliate, we’d say that the commission rate would have to be the first one — not a lot of companies offer 30% recurring commissions to their affiliates. The second benefit is the 120-day cookie, which we haven’t encountered in a lot of other options.

On the other hand, there are many all-in-one marketing solutions out there and they can come with pretty much the same features. Granted, EngageBay’s plans are more affordable, which means that even startup employees can use them, along with editors and people working in online media.

Getting a subscription from a highly expensive service by comparison might seem unreasonable for such professionals, and if they happen to be reading your blog and may be willing to try services you recommend, you’re in for a nice surprise.

We would have liked it more if the page about the affiliate program on the company website would have been slightly more detailed, especially when it comes to the payment methods and thresholds. Not a lot of affiliate marketers these days are crazy about using PayPal, so we hope that this is not the elected payment method.

EngageBay affiliate program alternatives

If for any reason, you feel like choosing to promote something other than EngageBay makes more sense for you right now, have a look at the affiliate programs described below.

We created a detailed review of this program, so if you have enough time, you should give it a read. With HubSpot, there are two main ways of earning.

You either pick the flat rate model that gives you $100 of the value that your referrals pay for the first month of their subscription or you opt for the recurring rate and get 15% in commissions for the entire length of their plan.

With this one, you can receive your earnings through either a bank transfer or good old PayPal. The downside to being a HubSpot affiliate is that you really have to do your best at convincing people to try the brand’s services because they tend to cost an arm and a leg.

As a Pipedrive affiliate, you’ll get 20% in recurring commissions for whatever plans your referrals decide to try out. Do keep in mind that the value of some of these plans is not extremely high, so you might not be able to make a fortune in the long run.

However, if your referrals decide to get the yearly plan, at least there’s that. The good thing is that the cookie for the program lasts for 90 days instead of the 30-day tracking duration you will come across when analyzing other options. Everything works through PartnerStack, so that’s one less thing to worry about.

Keap’s affiliate program is actually called ‘advocate program’ these days, so make sure you go to /refer to the company website instead of searching for any page regarding their affiliate program.

This one really isn’t too complex in the sense that you can make up to $250 a pop for every paying customer you send out Keap’s way. What is a little bothersome is that you have to really make an effort to get your money. First off, you need to create an affiliate account using the same email address you use on PayPal – otherwise you will have no means of submitting a referral claim to the brand.

Secondly, the only payment method is PayPal, which can be a drawback for some people. At least the program works through PartnerStack, so you’ll be talking to them instead of trying to reach out to the brand itself. We’d say that this one is only worth considering if you have enough time to deal with the claims and PayPal payments.
