SerpStat Review and Tutorial

Are you interested in looking at new SEO tools? Today I’m doing a review on a tool called Serpstat which is a keyword research tool with a few other features which will be useful for any SEO looking to check what keywords are being searched, and the keywords their competition uses.

This is a tool I’ve used for around 9 months now, over that period of time Serpstat have continued to add more features to their platform which now provides clients with an all in one competitor analysis tool. In the past couple of months some great new features have been added such as their site auditing feature which I find most helpful.

Using a tool like Serpstat gives me the ability to do:

  • Keyword research
  • Rank Tracking
  • Site Audits
  • Competitor Analysis
  • Backlink Analysis
  • PPC Research
  • Provide Reports for Clients

Having used this tool for 9 months now I have found it to be one of the best on the market in terms of Rank tracking. I still to this day use a number of tools but Serpstat seems to bring through accurate results and seems to dig a bit deeper than most of the other tools, this in turn shows more keywords that a website ranks for which results in a much better-looking report for a client.

It does seem to pull through local SEO results too which many of the other rank tracking tools on the market seem to struggle with. Previously I was using rank tracking tools and then having to do manual research to check the local SEO results for my clients so Serpstat do have this area well covered and it is definitely one a key feature that Serpstat can offer to me.

Below is a screenshot of it#’s nice easy to use interface, as you can see it is very simple and playing around with it for 10 minutes will help you to work out what’s what on the dashboard. There is nothing complicated on here which is the way all tools should be anyway.

There won’t be much effort required to work this tool, it’s very user friendly. Above I’ve posted an image and was just doing a bit of research on a generic search term like ” I Phone ” and as you can see it brings up a wide range of keywords as well as the ads keywords and the average CPC that you would expect to see with such a tool. So Serpstat is a useful tool in terms of being able to do some keyword research, seeing what the average cost per click is for ads and also to see any additional keywords that you might be missing. I regularly use tools like this for suggestions on keywords to target. It’s important to do this type of research rather than guessing what keywords are searched for as you will get the accurate data using a tool like Serpstat.

This tool at the top of the dashboard you can either search for a keyword or put in a URL and it will throw up the data for that URL, or throw up a range of keywords relating to the search term you have put in the search box.

I’ve double checked the accuracy of Serpstat just to be sure as I’ve used many tools in the past which has not been totally accurate so I put in ” I Phone ” into SEM Rush and it gives out similar results. I know SEMRush provides accurate data so wanted to compare Serpstat to another tool that I regularly use to see how it compares and Serpstat certainly didn’t disappoint, it comes up with almost identical figures which was always good to see.

The great thing about the Serpstat tool is the price, with packages being set up to suit people who may only want to use the tool for 1 website and there are packages that will suit people like me who will run daily reports. They even offer a FREE package if you are only doing 30 queries per day which is magnificent and will work well for those one man bands who are looking for a good quality free keyword research tool. You also have the option to upgrade if you find you need to use it more.

Given the new features and site auditing tool, alongside the backlink analysis, I would recommend getting a paid version of this tool so that you can use all of the key features that Serpstat have on offer.

The below video shows you the basic things you can do using this tool, from basic keyword research right through to the filtering options that the tool has. It has various other functions as it gives you keyword suggestions and related keyword suggestions.

When you pull up your organic search listings you can also search competitors by organic search, competitors by ads and you can do domain comparisons against your competitors to see how you match up compared to some of the competition. This tool also throws up the URL on any given website that has the highest visibility, so you can see what pages are performing best on your website.

Below is me checking out my competition in Glasgow for the search term ” SEO Glasgow “. This is showing me how many common keywords the others have, how many missing keywords I have compared to my competition and the overall keywords that some of these guys rank for.

My site is new and has only a small amount of content on it at present however, these guys listed below are all currently some of the best-ranking people for SEO related search terms in Glasgow. If I wanted to carry on and focus on those terms then I could look at keywords the competition are ranking for and do likewise.

I love the fact that it can show your positions whether they have moved up, down or any new ones have started to rank – this is a very useful part of the tool.

In terms of price Serpstat is very competitively priced and will work well for many small to medium-sized businesses working on a budget. Of course you can have their biggest package which would suit agencies and people who want to run this software all day every day so Serpstat is certainly one of the tools I’d recommend you get looking at for keyword research and also to check out your rankings. It’s one of the biggest problems is finding a tool that can accurately report on your rankings and this one certainly seems to do that very well.

Below is a quick video analysis of the tool so you can visibly see how it works and remember you can also try the tool out for free just go onto the site and sign up for a free package.
