Paid Traffic for Affiliate Marketing

Using Paid Traffic for Affiliate Marketing

Paid ads whether it be Adwords, Facebook Ads, Quora ads or any other type of paid traffic is a great way to get more traffic to your affiliate website and one that many people simply assume isn’t an option. I recently spoke at an event called Scale Traffic Live and this was a whole bunch of paid marketers who do affiliate marketing. Now I was asked to speak about SEO and the importance of using this online marketing technique to drive traffic to affiliate websites and some of the guys there are simply not using this as part of their strategy.

The question is are they missing a trick? Should they be using SEO, Social media and a whole bunch of other ways to drive traffic to their website? The simple answer is yes, any type of traffic that is relevant and has the right intent is going to increase your potential for sales.

On the flip side I know many affiliate marketers who simply use SEO to make money online and all things considered whether your a paid expert or simply an SEO expert you can make a lot of money, so why not use both of these techniques to build up your affiliate marketing business?

Benefits of Paid Traffic for Affiliate Marketing?

There are many benefits in using paid marketing when starting out in affiliate marketing, you can get instant traffic and sales, this can allow you to refine the CRO side of your website.

Alongside the CTR and engagement signals, you will get while your organic search is building up, remember click-through rate and engagement do impact your SEO campaigns, traffic and engagement moves the needle. This is a tried and tested theory and it works very well.

But this also will get you an instant ROI if you play your cards right, you can easily invest some money into paid, with a view to coming out with a positive ROI.

Best Paid Traffic Sources for Affiliate Marketing?

You have many paid traffic options, but no two same niches are the same so do not be afraid to try things out even if others haven’t been successful, they may not have been good at paid ads and dont want to see others do well, so remember to try and test any sensible options yourself, even if it’s for a short period of time and see how it goes. Some of my top tips for Paid Traffic Sources would be:

  • Adwords
  • Facebook Ads
  • Quora Ads
  • YouTube Ads
  • Bing Ads
  • Social Media Advertising ( Twitter, Linkedin, Reddit, Pinterest, Snapchat ) are just some examples
  • Buysell Ads

There are tons more paid traffic sources but the above are the main ones you should consider using, these are known to work well for many people out there.

You do have other options such as Taboola or Outbrain as other paid sources that can drive traffic over to your website and generate sales.

Retargeting with Paid Ads for Affiliate Marketing

So you have spent a whole bunch of money on paid ads, ensure you have your Facebook Pixel installed, and any other pixels that you might be able to get your hands on, this allows you to follow users around the web retargeting them with ads to make sure you remain in their mind and hopefully encourage them to come back and check your website out.

Most visitors leave websites without taking any action at all, but statistically retargeting can work very well to drive those people back onto your website and remind them of who you are and generate sales. Because they didn’t buy the first time around doesn’t mean they were not interested. People can often get distracted, they browse and then get dragged onto something else and forget to finalise what they were looking for, its happened to you, right?

So the very first thing you should be doing is installing that Facebook pixel, even if you dont intend on doing paid ads for a while, ensure that you do capture that data so when the time is right you can retarget those visitors with some of your ads.

So remember there are so many benefits to doing paid ads when you have an affiliate website and this type of traffic simply shouldn’t be ignored, utilise it for all you can get and if it provides you with that ROI then its a job well done.
