Liquid Web Affiliate Program Review

What is Liquid Web?

Even though you might have never heard of this company, it’s actually been around for more than 20 years. Liquid Web is a hosting company that offers a wide range of products and services, from WordPress hosting to add-ons such as backups and security & compliance.

To date, Liquid Web services are being used by more than 45,000 people across the world. The company has over 500,000 sites under management as of right now and there are ten global data centers available out there.

In short, this is one of the most reputable and trusted companies in the area of web hosting, which means that you shouldn’t have a hard time convincing your blog readers to try Liquid Web services.

How to become a Liquid Web affiliate

First of all, there are two different programs that we have to note in this post. The first is the obvious affiliate program that we will review here, but Liquid Web also has a ‘refer-a-friend’ system that can help you earn commissions or discounts, too.

There are several different ways of joining the program. You can use the company’s own website to find out more about it, but the brand does not manage the program on its own.

From the information that we came across, it seems that the program now runs through two different networks: Impact Radius and CJ Affiliate. If you already use these platforms for your affiliate marketing, this means that joining this program is going to be a piece of cake for you.

On both of these networks, you are going to find all of the marketing materials that you will require to earn your commissions, whether that be banners or just plain affiliate links.

Apparently, the cookie lasts for just as long on both of the platforms, meaning that you can expect to earn your rate if someone clicks on your link and makes a purchase anytime in the first 90 days.

What services can you promote to your audience?

As you might have noticed from our introduction, Liquid Web has quite a range of services and products available. Most are budget-friendly, but the thing is that the program actually pays great.

In most cases, the services that are going to help you make money are the following:

  • Managed WordPress
  • VPS Hosting
  • Dedicated Hosting
  • Cloud Hosting
  • Managed WooCommerce

How much does Liquid Web pay its affiliates?

The rates tend to vary depending on what your referrals choose to spend their money on.

But what we would like to note is that this is one of the best affiliate programs in this niche that we were able to discover. And the reason we’re saying that is that as an affiliate, you will make 150% out of the money that your referrals pay.

The best thing is that there’s a threshold that the brand uses and that makes it impossible for you to receive commissions (on larger plans, of course) that are lower than $150.

Prepaid plans can also earn you a 50% bonus.

Since we mentioned that the rates vary depending on the products selected by your audience, you should know that the $150 minimum applies to all of them. However, the maximum limits are different.

For example, for Managed WordPress plans, you cannot earn more than $2,000 per commission while Managed WooCommerce plans will earn you a maximum of $3,000 off the bat.

Dedicated hosting plans can make you up to $7,000, one of the largest commission rates in this industry. The maximum limit for VPS hosting purchased through your affiliate links is $300 while that for cloud hosting plans is $5,000.

As previously mentioned, the tracking cookie lasts for three whole months on both Impact Radius and CJ Affiliate.

Ways to promote Liquid Web

One of the best things about this program is that it doesn’t have any restrictions in terms of how you can promote Liquid Web products.

Obviously, there are some limitations that you will have to consult carefully in the Terms and Conditions document, but other than that, you’re mostly allowed to use any marketing method.

Consequently, you can write content on your website recommending Liquid Web services, but you can also use PPC marketing and video marketing, along with social media and pretty much any other outlet you have access to, including forums.

If you do decide to use PPC for Liquid Web affiliate marketing, you should know that you are not allowed to use the company’s name in any of the keywords you target. However, this is applicable to most of the other web hosting affiliate programs that we have looked at in the past.

You are also free to recommend Liquid Web products through the newsletters that you regularly send out to your email list.

Payment information

On both Impact Radius and CJ Affiliate, you will have to submit several forms attesting that you are or are not a resident in the United States. This step is important for tax purposes and you will not be able to receive your earnings if you do not complete it.

As for the payment methods that Liquid Web now uses for their affiliates, you are free to choose the one that best suits your needs from the following options:

  • PayPal
  • ACH
  • Hosting credits

It’s also important to note that payments are sent out once per month. You do need to reach a threshold of at least $50 on both CJ Affiliate and Impact Radius, but since the minimum commission rate you can expect to make with this program is $150, that shouldn’t be a problem.

Pros and cons of becoming a Liquid Web affiliate

Pros

In terms of the obvious advantages that you will be able to enjoy as an affiliate of this web hosting company, the first that comes to mind is the commission rate.

As you will see from the competitors that we will describe (and what they have to offer) in one of the sections below, Liquid Web is one of the few programs out there that pay so well.

The 90-day tracking cookie is another benefit, since some people might have a harder time telling whether they should purchase a product or not.

Something else we have to note is that there will always be someone to talk to in case you run into any problem whatsoever. The affiliate support works well on both of the networks we have mentioned and you can expect no delays in terms of payments.

Cons

Perhaps the most significant drawbacks are the fact that this niche, meaning web hosting, can be quite competitive if you want to rely on organic search, content marketing, and SEO, along with the fact that most packages on Liquid Web aren’t affordable.

Besides this, there’s really no reason to miss out on the Liquid Web web hosting affiliate program.

How does the Liquid Web affiliate program compare to similar ones?

Bluehost

Bluehost is one of the largest and best-known companies in the area of web hosting right now. Its affiliate program is quite lucrative for many marketers out there, and that’s because the commission rates range from $60 to $120.

The brand uses a tiered system, so the more people you get to purchase the services offered by Bluehost, the better you can expect your rate to be.

As for the payment methods, Bluehost is one of the few companies that use PayPal. This can be an advantage or a disadvantage depending on the status of your account. The minimum payment threshold is $100 (so higher than that of Liquid Web, which is $50)

Hostinger

The Hostinger affiliate program might not be a suitable option for you if you are aiming at high earnings. And the reason for that is while the company does offer a 60% rate on all orders, the problem is that most of the plans are very affordable.

To make things just a bit worse, the commissions aren’t recurring, so you are not going to be paid for any renewals. Hostinger uses PayPal for processing payments, but it can also send out payments through bank accounts to people based in the United Kingdom or the United States.

GoDaddy

This one is definitely not worth writing home about, but we decided to mention it here just so you have a term of comparison to Liquid Web and what the brand can offer you as an affiliate.

godaddy affiliate

The GoDaddy affiliate program has a commission of 15% on all qualifying orders. While that can indeed mean that you can make several hundred bucks off the bat, for cases where your referrals get yearly plans for a few different websites, that’s not always the case.

The good thing is that the brand does use CJ Affiliate for their marketing, so at least you will be able to manage everything through that platform. Finally, the cookie length is one month and a half, so it is about 50% of what you can expect from Liquid Web.

HostGator

This program is very similar to that of BlueHost to the point that the main difference between the two is that HostGator offers $5 more to associates than its competitor.

The cookie lasts for just 60 days, so it is significantly lower than what Liquid Web has to offer. The payment methods are similar, meaning that they can send you your earnings through PayPal and ACH.

Although the commission rates range from $60 to $125 so they are lower than what you can expect with the Liquid Web affiliate program, this is a pretty good alternative, so we recommend that you consider it as a way of diversifying your income streams.

A2 Hosting

We’re actually going to be creating a separate review of the A2 Hosting affiliate program. In terms of the tracking cookie length, it is comparable to the Liquid Web affiliate program and that’s because it lasts for 90 days.

However, the commission rate can’t be considered comparable since you are not going to be able to make more than $140 for any referral purchase. Still, it is a pretty good option, especially if you are looking to avoid putting all of your eggs in one basket.

Conclusion

So, should you create a Liquid Web affiliate account? The clear answer to this question is a hard yes. Liquid Web offers some of the best commission rates we have encountered in this niche and we have consulted a lot of them.

The fact that you will be able to earn at least $150 per qualifying order is the most important benefit. On the other hand, the industry is quite competitive, which leaves you with a limited number of options in terms of promotion.

You will probably have to rely on social media, top-notch content optimization, along with pay-per-click marketing to be able to make a lot of money. That is just the reality when it comes to all web hosting affiliate programs these days.
