Keywords Everywhere Review

Everyone has heard about keyword research tools like SEMrush and Ahrefs before and many marketers might have already tried them. But a relatively new and quite effective one that we have found is Keywords Everywhere. 

It works a little differently than what you might be used to, in that it’s not a web app in itself but rather a Google Chrome extension. 

In today’s article, we’re looking at some of its essential features, what it works with, its pricing, and other things you might want to know about the Keywords Everywhere tool.

Keywords Everywhere Review

The main difference that we would like to point out about the Keywords Everywhere Chrome extension is that it can’t be used for anything else besides keyword research. 

With other tools, which are, without a doubt, more expensive by comparison, you will be able to research other things, from your competition to how your website is in terms of DR, traffic, and other details you might be interested in. 

But with Keywords Everywhere, you will only be able to come across search terms that you can utilize in your content across several different channels. 

What platforms does Keywords Everywhere work with?

One of the biggest advantages to at least giving this tool a shot is that it’s not limited to Google or search engines, in general. 

The paid version gives you access to data across several different channels, such as Google Analytics, Google Search Console, and Google Trends, but also sites like Amazon, Etsy, YouTube, UberSuggest, and eBay. 

This makes it a quite useful extension for people who have shops on Etsy, for example, or just folks who sell products on a variety of online marketplaces. 

There is a difference between the two types of Keywords Everywhere extension you can get, in that free users have access to a lot less data compared to their paid counterparts. 

For example, the paid version offers support for more than ten different websites, but if you don’t want to get any credits, you’ll have to do your best with data pulled from Google, Bing, and YouTube — just that you aren’t going to be able to see the search volumes for any of these keywords. 

It goes without saying that the search volume of any term is extremely important and gives you some insight as to how many people are using that term every month, but also a clue as to how popular (and competitive) that keyword might be. 

How to use Keywords Everywhere 

Although you might not be used to the way this tool works and how it can be installed, the process is actually quite simple. Since you will effectively pay for a number of credits that will enable you to visualize the keyword data, getting the cheapest plan to test the software is probably the best idea, at least at first. 

When you create an account, you basically give Keywords Everywhere your email and you get an API key that will then allow you to use your credits — or even use the tool for free. 

Installing the extension takes under a minute and then you’re all good to go. Another thing that we’d like to mention here is that the Keywords Everywhere extension works for both Google Chrome and Firefox, so if you’re not a fan of the first, you can definitely use it with the second. 

The best place to go to for the installation process is the official Keywords Everywhere website. 

Once the extension is active, it will display the keywords on the right side of every search page in Google, for example. For this reason, lots of marketers choose to deactivate it regularly so that they don’t get charged for credits whenever they want to use Google for regular search, not keyword research. 

The data displayed on the right gives you the volume, CPC, and competition for every search term but the best thing about this tool is that it gives you lots of suggestions, so you can tap into potentially hidden data. 

Also, you can export the data to a CSV file if you find that you are most comfortable doing all the work on your computer, even when you’re not connected to the Internet. 

The volume speaks for itself, but the CPC metric allows you to better understand just how much money you are likely to spend on PPC campaigns. 

Moreover, the competition is also a little different compared to other Keywords Everywhere competitors in that the number actually refers to how many people are targeting that search term through paid advertising. 

You can also use the extension right from the comfort of your browser rather than visualizing the data on the search page of any engine. We’ve found this to be a little more helpful since it gives you a lot more data off the bat. 

A very neat feature that the Keywords Everywhere extension has is that it lets you analyze some of your competitors’ pages, focused on the search term that you yourself want to target, too. 

The tool effectively tells you what keywords were used on that page — including search terms variations and alternatives — so it can give you a clue as to which search terms you are supposed to utilize, as well.

What can Keywords Everywhere be used for?

Obviously, Keywords Everywhere can be used for keyword research, but there are several different things you can do with this tool, some of which we might have already touched upon a bit. 

For example, you can effectively adjust your PPC campaigns based on the information you get from the trends, competition, and CPC value displayed thanks to this tool. 

Another aspect we particularly like about the software is the Page Analyzer feature, which lets you check out a large number of metrics for the keywords targeted on your competitors’ pages — and best of all, the tool even tells you the location of those keywords, if they’re in the headings or text. 

It also shows you the density, number of keyword uses, volume, CPC, competition, and trend (for United States) for each search term. 

And in the end, not too many tools out there can give you relevant keyword data for platforms like eBay, Amazon, or Etsy, meaning you can definitely use Keywords Everywhere for eCommerce purposes. 

It also gives you the opportunity to understand what markets you are supposed to sell in for the best results. You’ll also discover your competitors (but just by using search), discover heaps of long-tail keywords that might have not even crossed your mind before, and just make quick adjustments on your advertising campaigns in a timely fashion.

Who is the ideal Keywords Everywhere user?

If you have been searching for an easy-to-use keyword tool that merely gives you the information you need about various search terms and suggestions, perhaps it’s time to give Keywords Everywhere a shot. 

But there are some limitations that this tool has and we’ll go more into depth in the section below, detailing its pros and cons. 

If you run a website, an online shop, or you create YouTube videos, you’re probably the ideal Keywords Everywhere user. 

If you’re a marketer who handles a lot of other data, it might be an alternative to check out, but it’s not going to make your job considerably easier since you are also going to be likely to want to know other metrics, not just those related to search terms. 

On top of everything, it’s quite easy to forget that you have the extension turned on, which means that you might accidentally use some of your credits even when you don’t want to do that. You actually need to have a set schedule in place where you turn it off at the end of every work session just to be on the safe side of things.

Pros and cons 

There are heaps of reasons to consider using this tool, such as the fact that its interface is super smooth, the user experience is excellent on the whole, it’s customizable and straightforward and gives you most of the keyword data you need. 

Besides all that, since it’s an extension, even if you use a different computer when you’re on vacation, for example, if you have your API key (and it will be emailed to you, so keep that message in your inbox), you can set it up virtually everywhere on the globe. 

The fact that it is compatible with more than ten different engines and platforms is another pro that needs to be considered, especially since not all tools give you data from the popular marketplaces out there today. 

Last, but not least when it comes to the advantages of this tool, it’s extremely affordable. Anyone can buy 100,000 credits with just $10 and if you use Keywords Everywhere wisely and you turn it off when you do not need it, this number of credits can last you for at least several months. 

The only con that we have found with respect to this extension is that it’s quite easy to forget you have it turned on, so you can waste your credits by accident. Moreover, it’s not going to give you as much data as some of its competitors, so refer to some of the Keywords Everywhere alternatives that we have showcased below for that. 

Pricing

This is where Keywords Everywhere is completely different compared to many other tools. For example, with other keyword research pieces of software, you’re basically forced to pay for a monthly subscription whether you use them or not. 

But with Keywords Everywhere, the credit-based pricing gives you the chance to save big bucks, especially on the days where you really don’t use the tool at all. 

How much does Keywords Everywhere cost? The cheapest ‘plan’ is just $10 and gives you 100,000 credits. The way you’re going to use them depends on the data you get, and while the average of a Google search value is about 30 credits since the tool will also give you info on your main keyword and suggest some long-tail variations, too, you can also use the tool interface for performing searches. 

There are more expensive plans, too, but they’re not necessarily more advantageous. For example, $50 gives you 500,000 credits while $200 gives you 2,000,000 credits, so the math works out in such a way that you can basically get the cheaper plans time and again. 

How long will all of these credits last? Well, it depends on the plan you’ve purchased, but it also depends on how often you use the tool. If you make sure to turn off the extension when you have no intention of using it, they can last for a pretty good amount of time.

So the first and most important difference between this tool and some of its competitors is that the second usually work on a monthly subscription pricing model. The complexity of the tool and what you can do with it will automatically influence how much it costs. 

For example, KeySearch can set you back at least $17 per month while AccuRanker will cost $99 a month. The same goes for the tools that we have already mentioned, meaning Ahrefs whose Lite plan is priced at $99/month and SEMrush, its basic Pro plan costing $119.95/month (at the time we’re writing this). 

But these two last tools give you access to much more data, and if you are a seasoned marketer or you have several different websites you work with on a regular basis, they’re going to be much more useful to you compared to Keywords Everywhere. 

Alternatively, you can get a basic plan from any of these tools and work with Keywords Everywhere in tandem so that you compare some of the search term data such as the volume, CPC, or competition. One thing we’d like to note is that, much like any of its competitors, the data you can pull from Keywords Everywhere is slightly different from the one you can get with standard Google tools like their Keyword Planner. 

In the end, while Keywords Everywhere might not be the perfect tool in the world, it’s still quite useful and also incredibly affordable — so it makes sense for you to at least give it a try.
