GoDaddy Affiliate Program Review

Since GoDaddy is a huge and well-known company, you probably aren’t going to have a hard time convincing your readers that their services are worth looking into. Sure, there are more than enough comments online about what they have to offer and about how their costs compare to those of similar companies.

But since it is always a good idea to diversify your income streams as much as possible, in today’s post, we’re looking at the GoDaddy affiliate program, its pros and cons, commissions, cookies, payment methods, and everything else you might want to know.

GoDaddy Affiliate Program Review

Getting started

Even though you could have started earning a GoDaddy affiliate commission using their own program in the past, you no longer have this option. The two most popular ways of making money as an affiliate for GoDaddy are two platforms:

  • Commission Junction
  • Viglink

Once you join the program through one of these two platforms, someone at GoDaddy is going to manually review your application. However, most applications are accepted. Unless you’re trying to sell fake coupons or you have a website going against their policies, you are not going to be rejected.

What you can promote

If you’ve ever heard of GoDaddy, chances are that other people have, too. They mostly deal with domain name registrations, but they also sell hosting and WordPress hosting. Some of their other products are the following:

  • Domain auctions
  • Malware removal
  • SSL certificates
  • SEO and marketing services

Out of the two affiliate marketing networks that we have mentioned, CJ seems to be the most convenient one as it gives you access to dozens of banners, coupons, ads, and a variety of other types of marketing material. You can use all of these to improve your conversions.

GoDaddy affiliate rates

For one-time sales, you’ll get a 10 to 15% commission, depending on the product that your referral has opted for. If the person has opted for a hosting plan and they’ve never had one before, you will get a $100 bonus.

For repeat customers that renew their annual plans, you get a $25 commission. As for the cookie length, it’s just 45 days. That somehow falls in the middle of other affiliate programs.

Payments are mainly processed through Paypal.

Pros and cons of being a GoDaddy affiliate

In terms of the benefits that you’ll get if you decide to use this affiliate program along with several others, the brand is very well-known, so prospective customers aren’t going to feel so wary about choosing their services. Also, deep linking is available through Commission Junction, and you do get commissions for renewals, not just for customers.

The 10 to 15% commission might not be something worth writing home about, though. You’ll also have a hard time finding real information about the program, both on their site and on Commission Junction, ShareASale, Zanox, or any other network.

On top of everything, the commissions are held for a period of 60 days, so it will take at least 2 months for you to see any money going into your Paypal account.

Is it worth it?

Since it’s not a good idea to put all your eggs into one basket, it might be worth it, yes. But there are some things to consider, such as the fact that you have to be in the right niche, and you also have to recommend products or services that you yourself have tried.

In terms of the commissions, you will get better ones somewhere else, and there’s no arguing that. But in the end, this affiliate program can make you several hundred dollars in a year and even more, if your traffic is better.

Over the past years, the company has had a share of problems reputation-wise, and they range from scams to support issues. There are other, more reputable web hosting and domain purchase services, such as NameCheap, Siteground, or HostGator, and all of them have affiliate programs (that we have reviewed on our site).
