Sellfy Affiliate Program Review

What is Sellfy?

Sellfy is a platform that enables people to create online shops in just a few minutes. It is very user-friendly, which is why the brand has witnessed a significant increase in popularity over the past few years.

The easy templates, along with features such as the ability to add new products or update the inventory with just a few clicks are among its biggest selling points.

The platform can be used for selling actual physical products and promoting them on a variety of separate networks, be they YouTube, Instagram, or everywhere else to shipping these items directly to customers. The same can be done for selling digital downloads such as courses or even subscriptions.

The best thing about Sellfy is that it requires zero experience when it comes to coding, so anyone can set up an e-commerce website with as little effort as possible. The types of payments accepted through Sellfy right now are Stripe, credit cards, and PayPal.

There are no extra fees for payment processing, which should be something that any eCommerce business owner might be interested in – and a point that you should note in your content when recommending Sellfy to your followers.

What services can you recommend to your audience?

When it comes to Sellfy pricing, the plans are billed differently depending on the billing period. So the answer to the question ‘How much does Sellfy cost?’ is a little complicated. The monthly billing is, of course, more expensive, whereas the yearly one and the two-year one are more budget-friendly.

For the sake of clarity, we will only note the pricing for the monthly model in this review.

The basic plan is called Starter and it is billed at $29 per month (customers can save as much as $84 when choosing the yearly billing model). This one comes with anything ranging from email marketing and the ability to connect the user’s domain to digital products, physical ones, and subscription products. This plan is limited to $10k sales per year, though.

The next plan is called Business and is billed at $79 per month (customers can save $324 with the yearly billing). It allows users to sell merchandise up to $50K in value per year, and besides the other features that are included in the basic subscription, extras such as product upselling, cart abandonment, and store design migration are available.

The Premium plan costs $159 per month (with the possibility of a discount of $480 for the yearly billing model). This subscription includes everything that we have previously mentioned, but it allows stores to have sales of up to $200K per year – so it is designed for larger e-commerce businesses.

In case users need something more specific, the brand makes it possible for custom plans to be designed for every need and preference, especially when it comes to stores with sales of more than $200k per year.

How to become a Sellfy affiliate

The good news is that this affiliate program is managed by PartnerStack, a separate platform where you can easily check out your performance and conversions on a regular basis, without having to access the Sellfy website every single time.

Becoming an affiliate is very easy – on the PartnerStack Sellfy page, you will be prompted with a form that you will have to fill out with your information. The data you’ll need to provide ranges from your first and last name, along with your email, to your business details and the way you intend to promote Sellfy products and services.

Of course, you will also need to specify the size of your audience so that an affiliate manager can make a decision as to whether it makes sense for the brand to work with you or not. You’ll receive an answer about your application in a few working days’ time.

How much can you earn with the Sellfy affiliate program?

The commission rate often dictates whether you might want to join an affiliate program or not, so here’s what you can expect to make with this opportunity – you get a 25% share of every purchase made through your referral link, but this happens every time someone renews their subscription, too.

Since lifetime commissions are so hard to come by when it comes to affiliate marketing, we’d say that the Sellfy program is definitely worth considering. But wait, there’s more – depending on the number of sales you make every month, your rate can actually be increased.

For 1-5 sales, your commission is 25%, but when you cross the 6-sale threshold, it becomes 30%. For 16-40 sales on a monthly basis, your commission tier is switched to 35% and for anything that goes beyond 41 sales, you can expect to make 40% out of your referrals’ order value.

If you’re extremely successful and you make more than 100 sales every single month, you can even get in touch with the brand at affiliate@sellfy.com and ask for a customized commission.

We’d also like to note that the cookie lasts for 90 days, so it is three times longer compared to the industry standard, which now stands at just 30 days.

Payment methods and thresholds

Since Sellfy works with PartnerStack in managing the program, you’ll be happy to know that there are two payment methods currently available instead of one. Naturally, PayPal is one of them since it’s so convenient and widespread, but there’s also the option of you receiving your rewards via Stripe.

Another great thing about this program is that there’s no specific limit when it comes to the amount of money you need to have made before being able to get your earnings. Once your account reaches just $5, you can withdraw your commissions.

Payments are made on a monthly basis (on the 15th of every month, to be precise) and while we couldn’t find any specific information about this, we would advise that you might need to wait for a month until your commissions are checked and approved before being able to withdraw them to your account.

Pros and cons of being a Sellfy affiliate

Every affiliate program out there comes with benefits and drawbacks, and for the sake of transparency and objectivity, we would like to note all of them in this section.

First off, the pros seem to be outweighing the cons when it comes to the Sellfy program, but there are some cons that you might have to deal with, too.

The 25% lifetime commission is one of the most significant reasons to join the program in the first place, and the fact that you even have the chance of earning more of what your referrals are paying is definitely great.

The length of the tracking cookie is another advantage, because not a lot of companies out there are willing to offer a 90-day cookie instead of a 30-day one. By the way, there are way worse options out there, such as Udemy’s 7-day cookie or Amazon Associates’ 24-hour cookie.

Another benefit is the fact that the program works through PartnerStack, a very handy network that makes it easy for you to take a look at your clicks and conversions on a regular basis. The 2 payment methods can be seen as an advantage, too.

The only so-called con that we were able to think of is the fact that there are other e-commerce platforms out there that are much better known by comparison – Shopify, WooCommerce, and BigCommerce are a few examples, and we will tackle all of these alternatives in the section below.

In other words, if your audience is quite versed when it comes to using such platforms and they have never heard of Sellfy before, they might have a few second thoughts before actually deciding to get a paid plan.

On the other hand, there is a 14-day free trial available and it does not even require a credit card. Consequently, people can try out the service before investing their hard-earned cash into a subscription — which makes the task of recommending Sellfy to them a lot easier.

Sellfy affiliate program alternatives

If you feel like a Sellfy alternative might be a better choice for you, take a look at the options that we have showcased below. Some of them are better known, so you might find it easier to promote their services.

BigCommerce

This program has one of the best commissions for affiliates out there. Depending on the value of your referrals’ subscriptions, you can sometimes expect to make 200% out of what they are paying for BigCommerce services.

In case you are lucky enough to refer someone to the Enterprise plan and they actually get it, you can expect a commission of $1,500. These rates are not recurring, but it is understandable given their value. The cookie also lasts for 90 days, which is something you can expect from the Sellfy store too.

Shopify

Shopify is one of the biggest brands in the e-commerce business, so you really aren’t going to have a hard time recommending it to your audience. While the terms and information that you will find on the brand’s website aren’t exactly clear, we did find out that you can make $150 for every referral that makes a purchase.

So, whether someone purchases the basic plan through your link or opts for a more expensive one, that’s what you can expect to earn with this affiliate program. The cookie lasts for 30 days, so pretty much the industry standard.

Etsy

Everyone’s heard of Etsy before and while it does not resemble some of the other services that we have showcased here, it is still a good option especially for crafty people and DIY-ers that would like to make some money on the side.

The downside is that you’re not going to get rich by promoting Etsy on your media property. The rate is just 4% on every sale, no matter the category you are recommending. So while the brand is very, very well-known, the affiliate program might not be as lucrative for you as you might have thought.

Podia

If you want to become a Podia affiliate, you should know that the commission rate that you can expect differs depending on where you join the program. If you are a Podia user yourself, you’ll earn $30 every time someone signs up for a paid account using your affiliate link.

However, if you join the program through Impact or Rewardful, you can actually make less or more depending on the value of their subscription. On both of those networks, the commission stands at 30%.

Solid Affiliate

This is a WooCommerce plugin specifically designed for affiliate marketing, so do keep that in mind when you are recommending it to your followers. By promoting it on your website or social media pages, you can make a flat rate of 20% on whatever your referrals are paying.

The only payment method when it comes to this affiliate program is PayPal, though, so if you’re not able to use that, you might as well not consider it as an option at all.

Final thoughts

So, should you become a Sellfy affiliate? That’s a question that only you can answer, but we’d say that this opportunity is at least worth giving some thought to.

The recurring commissions, along with the 90-day cookie and the fact that everything works through PartnerStack make it a good choice for most affiliate marketers.
