Questions to Ask Before Buying an SEO Course

With the variety of SEO courses available out there, it can be difficult to know just which one you should invest your hard-earned cash in. In this post, we’re looking at several questions that you ought to ask yourself before deciding to pay for an SEO course keeping in mind that some of the info can be found for free on the Internet.

Questions to ask before buying an online SEO course

  1. Have you exhausted all of the free info?

The best SEO course will usually contain a broad range of information, some of which you can find for free on the Internet. However, there are some aspects to SEO that you might not be able to come across in any of the articles, eBooks, or whitepapers you might have read.

As you probably know by now, there are heaps and heaps of self-proclaimed SEO gurus that will sell you an SEO crash course, but it will most likely not contain any groundbreaking information you might not have heard somewhere else before.

Look at the SEO online course structure, if you have access to it, to realize whether, at the end of it, you will be able to create your own SEO plan. If that’s the case, it’s probably worth investing in.

  1. Do you have enough time?

How long do you think it will take you to complete the course, and most importantly, are you going to get a certification at the end? Can you spare at least an hour of coursework per week, if not more? If you can’t, this might not be the right time for you to enroll in a course, especially one that you have to be online at specific times for.

There’s always the option of you opting for a course that doesn’t involve you having to go through platforms such as Coursera or Udemy, which might restrict you timewise.

If you get access to all of the lessons and you are free to go through them at your own pace and depending on your schedule, it’s probably a good course to invest in. even though you aren’t going to feel pressured to finish it in a certain time span, you will at least have the option to do it anytime you want.

  1. Do you have the budget?

SEO courses can be expensive or cheap, but it all depends on what you are looking to learn and the money that you are willing to spend. When they’re developed by well-known SEOs, they tend to be more expensive, but that’s not a universal rule.

If you think you can’t spend several hundreds of dollars on an SEO writing course or any other type, for that matter, it might be a good idea to keep an eye on the creator’s website and see whether they don’t offer any discounts.

Most SEOs put together sales when Black Friday comes around, so buying the course in November is one way to save some money.

  1. Do you have a history of not completing courses?

Whether you are looking to join an SEO copywriting course or one that focuses on the technical side of SEO, you have to assess your availability and willingness to finish it. If you have bought and tried completing several other courses in the past, whether in the SEO field or not, and you’ve always failed, this might not be the right option for you.

Some people are just not as good at managing their own schedule, so in-person SEO training might be a better option for them. Think of it this way – in-person training has a number of benefits that you aren’t going to get by buying a course, and one of the most important ones is that you can ask questions in case you haven’t understood something.

  1. Do you need the information now?

If you genuinely think that the info in an SEO course is going to help you with managing your website, with perfecting your SEO skills so that you can get another job or be promoted, or with anything else that’s practical and could improve your life on a whole, investing in one makes sense.

If you know absolutely nothing about SEO but you’re merely interested in finding out more about it, you should start by reading some articles online so that you get the basics. Once you’ve done that, you can opt for the advanced form of course.

If you have merely heard that SEOs make good money and you want to get into it without knowing too much about it,
