Best Blogging Platform

If you’re thinking of starting a blog, you’re probably looking for the best blogging platform out there. Well, there’s no such thing. Some are paid, some are free, some are better than others in terms of SEO, but with all of those that we are going to showcase in today’s article, you’ll have to learn some features and have more than enough patience.

Without further ado, here are some of the best platforms for blogging.

Best Blogging Platforms

This is a version of WordPress that you can use with the brand’s hosting or with your own. For example, you can get Siteground, HostGator, or Namecheap hosting and run WordPress as a content management system.

While some folks might say that it calls for a steep learning curve, the truth is that WordPress is extraordinarily versatile and compatible with a wide range of plugins – whether for stats or monetization.

The downside is that it’s paid. And you might also have a hard time installing it on your site if you aren’t tech-savvy.

Another reason to choose is that it’s compatible with a huge number of templates, whether paid or free.

This one is probably the best free blogging platform, but the downside is that you can’t use your custom domain. However, if you aren’t sure whether blogging might make you some money or if you just want to express your thoughts and get your content ranked without spending a buck, this could be a solution.

You can always upgrade to a paid plan from if you want.

As another free blogging platform, this time coming from Google, we have to say that we’re a bit disappointed. Sure, it’s easy to use — it’s definitely much easier to use compared to WordPress, but there’s something seriously wrong with this platform.

For instance, you can’t organize your content as per menus and categories – you simply have to use tags. This means that if you want to display a ‘category’ on your homepage, you should use the link of the posts tagged in one way or the other.

In terms of SEO, this is not so good. But the weird thing about Blogger is that your content can get ranked pretty decently, even without a custom domain. On top of that, you can very easily install it on a custom domain, which would cut down the costs significantly.

So, in a nutshell, you’d be using the hosting by Blogger but paying for a domain (like $18-20 a year) from a domain provider.

If you’re just starting out, Blogger might be a good option for you. But if you intend to switch to WordPress at some point, you might as well choose instead.

If you don’t want to monetize your blog in any way and you just want to show potential clients what you can do in terms of writing, Medium is your best option. But you don’t have a lot of freedom in terms of customization, and you literally have no way of making money with the platform.

It can be useful for people who are interested in building a brand for themselves, though.

While this one isn’t free, it’s probably the easiest blogging platform and most convenient website builder out there. It’s user-friendly and simple, and its drag-and-drop interface is definitely something worth writing home about.

Moreover, there are over five hundred templates available, so you can customize your content and pages as per your needs and preferences. You can use the free version one if you aren’t interested in getting your custom domain, but you do have to pay at least $13 a month if you want to use your own domain name.

What makes a good blogging platform?

You want to be able to choose the right theme (or template), add plugins, test tools, and anything else, although these features might be available only with a paid plan.

If you want to create a newsletter or just let your subscribers know whenever you have published a new post, the blogging platform should come with some sort of email feature or at least be compatible with a service in the lines of MailChimp.
